Based on a series of interviews, the one-act micro play Dory, Dorylene explored the true story of an eighty-two year old woman born "illegitmate" and orphaned at the age of five. The story explores a woman's life looking back on abandonment, lifetime illiteracy, and the unknown identity of her father. Presenting this never-told story in her own words, Dory reveals a woman unashamed, strong-willed, and deeply proud of the way hardship has shaped her life in beautiful and challenging ways, striking a regional chord with others whose oral stories are yet to be told.
